A Felton, Penn. man was found guilty of illegally selling venison from his meat processing operation.

Pennsylvania Game Commission officials found that the pork sausage Richard F. Klinefelter was selling contained venison.

Guy A. Hansen, game commission wildlife conservation officer, used DNA testing to determine if any of the 500 pounds of meat the office had purchased over a year’s time contained deer meat.

"Based on tips from confidential informants, we were buying pounds and pounds of deer meat," Hansen said. "We're still not sure where all of the deer meat came from."

Klinefelter was found guilty on eight counts of illegally selling venison and was ordered to pay $2,400 in fines and $3,760 in restitution to the game commission special investigative officers that bought meat from him during the investigation.
