The Utah Wildlife Board approved in a 4 to 2 vote that one of the state’s most popular hunting seasons, the general rifle buck deer hunt, will be shortened from nine days to only five for hunters ages 19 and up beginning on Aug. 21, 2010.

The new five day season is set to open on Oct. 23 through Oct. 27., 2010.

Only hunters 18-years-old and under as of Aug. 21 will be allowed to hunt for the full nine days starting on Oct. 21 through Oct. 31, 2010.

All of the new changes will be available in the 2010 Utah Big Game Guidebook. The guidebook can be found at wildlife.utah.gov/guidebooks in late December according to Outdoor News Daily.
